5 Ways to Create a Mindful Morning Routine

Happy mornings start with a rested mind and body. So, the first step is to go to bed early and get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night. If you get good quality sleep, you will wake up energized and ready to start the day. I usually go to bed around 9pm and look forward to cozying up in my Buffy comforter. 1. Get enough sleep.

2. Drink warm lemon water.

Starting the day with hydration has endless benefits. We all know this, but are you applying it everyday? Make it a habit to sip water first thing in the morning. When you wake up just head to kitchen and make your warm water before you even check your phone. Your whole body ( especially your digestive system) will thank you. Here's how I prepare mine: squeeze half a lemon's juice in a glass and fill it half way with boiled water + half with filtered water.  

3. Write a gratitute list.

I always loved the idea of writing a gratitude list but didn't know how to get started and make it  a habit. I'm so happy now it's a part of my morning routine. Here is how to do it. Every morning, write down these three things:
1. What am I grateful for?
2. What would make today great?
3. Daily affirmations. I am... ( confident, kind and loving)
​It only takes 5 minute and makes a super positive difference.

4. Do a mindful movement or just breathe!

This can be a 10 minute yoga or pilates stretching session on your mat at home (try my everyday stretching routine.)  Maybe you take a short walk or go to a workout class. It doesn't matter what you do as long as you do it mindfully and be fully present. Some days, it's enough to just sit and listen to a mindful guided meditation and simply breathe. Do whatever feels best!

5. Have a nourishing breakfast.

Most days, I eat an early dinner and literally wake up dreaming of breakfast food hehe :) Who else!? First step here is to stock your kitchen with healthy breakfast food and have a few favorite recipe. Whether it's avocado on toast, oatmeal or a smoothie, make sure to nourish your body properly in the morning. There are so many healthy recipes you can prepare the night before and grab in the morning. I personally love Madeleine Shaw's Youtube channel and Deliciously Ella's Instagram page for breakfast inspo!
