With everything going on in the world, it is easy to lose our connection with ourselves. A lot of us often live in a depressed and unsatisfied state. I've been thinking on what to do about it. After reading a lot about happiness and what really makes people happy, I've put these two tips together for you. 1. Experiences and friends makes us happy. It turns out that new experiences makes us happy. Traveling to new places, going to a concert (#queenB), watching movies with good friends, and spending time with loved ones makes us a happier person. It seems like we are all looking for happiness in a different place. You might think once you have more money, a better car, the newest iPhone, you will be happy. But, the answer may be just going on an exciting trip and collecting good stories to remember all your life. The picture below is from my get-away weekend in Monterey, CA from few weeks ago. It reminds me how alive, happy, and excited I felt at the time. 2. Less is more when it comes to "things."
Are we going to be happier once we have the latest high-end purse, another pair of expensive shoes that we don't really need? Studies suggest that less is more when it comes to things. Buying more things makes us worry, NOT happy. Also, this is an endless vicious circle. There is always something newer, cooler, better out there that we're bombarded with through magazines and TV ads. But, you should have the control. You can always ask yourself. Why am I buying this? Is this really what I need in my life? Probably not. I hope we can all start questioning where we are seeking happiness. First step is to breathe and look deep inside of ourselves to find the strength, inner calm, and kindness. It seems like that's the only way to true happiness. Love, Hande
